Project Oded

As a combat engineer in the IDF, Oded Gelbstein was among the first forces to enter Gaza. On November 2, he was seriously injured by a bullet fired by a Hamas sniper, resulting in a spinal cord injury and paralysis from the waist down.

Since November, Oded has been undergoing rehabilitation therapy in a hospital in Israel to try and treat the paralysis. He now requires a special kind of intentive physiotherapy, and Oded’s family have identified the Giusti Center in Florence, Italy, whose intensive motor rehabilitation programs could be transformative for their son.

Yashar LaChayal is fundraising to support Oded’s family in covering Oded’s medical care and rehabilitation at the Giusti Center. Our target for Oded’s project is currently $200,000, which will contribute significantly towards the treatment costs. Oded’s family humbly appeal to you for help – to assist in rehabilitating Oded, allowing him to lead an independent life, grow, marry, and have children.
