of Magav protecting East Jerusalem, the Old City, and the Har Habayit. Over 140 water backpacks were distributed to this group who protect this incredible area. They patrol by foot in the very cold winters and the very hot summers wearing full gear.

They just finished a 12 hour march with full gear.

She decided that in lieu of presents, that her guests donate to Yashar for the benefit of soldiers. On a beautiful day, the Auerbachs and Rawiszer families presented the soldiers of Lavi with water backpacks in a ceremony near Jerusalem. She is indeed very special, and Yashar and the soldiers of Lavi and other units appreciate the deed very much!

In an emotional ceremony, the soldiers received these special backpacks which memorialized their Deputy Battalion Commander- Eliraz Peretz h"yd, who was killed near the Gaza border.

The Karakal battalion was absolutely thrilled to receive these water backpacks. They are stationed in the Negev desert patrolling the Egyptian border areas. They are unique in the IDF because the “makeup” of the unit is made up of male and female combat soldiers. Yashar travelled over 3 hours from the Jerusalem area to reach these very brave soldiers training in 106 degree weather on that day. The reaction of the soldiers left an incredible impression, havig told us that “these backpacks were exactly what was needed”!

They raised funds through their annual Pesach wine sale for the benefit of a battalion of soldiers from the Shimshon unit. Over 300 water backpacks were distributed to the soldiers while they were doing training in one of the desert bases. They were absolutely thrilled to receive them.

We visited him when he first got injured and on many other occassions in Tel Hashomer. On this visit, we gave him a DVD player, movies, and all kinds of puzzles to help him in his therapy.

homes or soldiers that get no financial support from their families. These boys enter the army training bases, and are supplied with the minimum amount of clothes besides their uniforms. Unfortunately, there are soldiers that cannot afford the basic necessities. Yashar supplied hundreds of t-shirts, underwear, socks, towels, shampoos, soaps, toothbrushes, toothpastes, etc. which will be stored in a special closet to help ease their training. We hope to duplicate this project amongst the other training bases. Yashar is very grateful to the Maschler Family for their generous support.

Trucks from the following units: Nachal, Shirion, Handasa, Golani, and Tzanchanim came to Maale Adumim to pick up and distribute amongst the soldiers with financial problems.

They just finished a tough year of training which culminated in their “Sof Maslul” ceremony

We were invited to see how these brave soldiers were being trained on massive bulldozers and mine clearing equipment in the “field”.

These guys were surprised to get fleece jackets for the very cold days and nights in the Golan.

The weather was stormy- and the soldiers really appreciated this donation!

Alexei moved to Israel with his elderly mother. She could only find work for two hours a day. Alexei is forced to work when he comes home in a local supermarket.

The presentation was made in memory of Inon Nissan, who was killed in the last week of the Second Lebanon war in 2006. Throughout that war, Yashar LaChayal had helped Shirion 53 with many different projects. We asked the family to join us in distributing the donation.

A few months ago, while David was doing guard duty by one of the road blocks near Shechem, a Palestinian driver was told to stop. As David motioned to him, the driver sped up and tried to run him over. David was injured, but decided to go back to his unit. Yashar LaChayal donated a refrigerator that replaced a broken one.

Ask any soldier serving in hot weather areas how important these water backpacks are. It allows the water to remain cool while training for hours at a time.

He came from Russia alone, and has no family at all in Israel. He is not only brave, but very modest and has never complained to anyone about lacking the basic appliances to live. His close friends asked us to help him out. Yashar had a microwave and washing machine delivered to his kibbutz.

During a week of training in the Negev desert, with temperatures reaching 103 degrees, they were ecstatic to receive water backpacks so they can keep their water cool.

The temperature reached 103 degrees when we were there. These guys are sleeping in tents and are training hard. They were ecstatic to receive water “camel packs” through the generosity of the Young Israel of Teaneck.

Dore asked that presents be sent for the benefit of the Golani group- what a kid! Here he is giving out backpacks.

We visited the boy’s home, and saw firsthand the deplorable conditions that the family was experiencing. Returning home every Shabbat, the boy did not have a bed, but slept on the floor. That very same day, we bought food to fill the refrigerator, a pair of sneakers and a sofabed for the boy.

400 t-shirts, and 200 pairs of long underwear.

We donated over 300 pairs of underwear and 400 t-shirts.

They are responsible for patrolling the coast from Eilat to the Lebanese border. This group was instrumental in the Second Lebanese War.

This donation was in memory of their fallen soldier.

Hard to believe, but these rooms are freezing at night, and make it difficult to do their 12 hour shifts. Some of their responsibilities include special operations in neighhboring Arab villages, as well guarding the Holy Kever Rachel

For those of you unfamiliar with this unit- they are unique in their love of Israel, and we are fortunate to help them out!

This donation was given in memory of David Shikri, z"l; a soldier stationed in Magav Hakotel, who was stabbed a few months ago and later succumbed to his injuries. A resident of East Jerusalem was recently arrested and charged with the murder.

These guys are giving their all in the Gaza area, and deserve some appreciation.

to the Tzabar unit of Givati, in memory of Liron Banai. He was killed when his jeep drove over a bomb that was placed on the Gaza border. His parents, who are deaf, broke out in tears as they were presented with a plaque from Yashar LaChayal in memory of their son.

We found most of the sleeping quarters did not have air conditioning. Although we can not donate enough units for all these caravans, we supplied 5 air conditioners for the time being. This project is an ongoing objective of our organization throughout the summer months.

Prior to the holiday of Pesach, Yashar LaChayal reps took a tour of the Nachal Charedi headquarters and committed to further assistance in the near future.

Yashar LaChayal was there as the tanks came back, and we distributed items purchased in Sderot.

We made sure all the items were purchased in Sderot.

Items that are needed for our bases in the south, are bought in Sderot. We also show our gratitude to the soldiers that are stationed there.

The Maschler family helped us continue our support with a donation of 210 fleece jackets.

Amongst other things, 30 ice coolers were purchased for the benefit of the tank crews in the grueling heat in the area.

Medals and special gifts were awarded to the brave soldiers who displayed extraordinary bravery during the Second Lebanon War. The moving ceremony was attended by the Chief of Staff, and the gifts were donated by Yashar LaChayal.

Overlooking the Western Wall, and serving as the guards for all the entry points into the Old City of Jerusalem, half of this Border Patrol base sits at the top of the boundary between the Wall and the Temple Mount, the other in East Jerusalem. They are responsible for entry into the Arab controlled Temple Mount, and the Old City.

In 2001, Arafat’s Force 17 threatened all out war against Israel from this strategically placed set of partially built buildings on the highest point overlooking Jerusalem. The compound now stands alone inside Abu Dis as the center for anti-terrorist activities of the Border Patrol.

April 2007: Two heating/air conditioner units were donated for the base’s recreation room.

Yashar LaChayal supplied this Border Patrol base with 130 fleece jackets, hats and gloves.

Thirteen rooms housing 42 soldiers were without heaters/air conditioners for two years. The army continuously rejected their requests due to budgetary restrictions. We went to the base, and met with the officers. We told the base commander that Yashar Lachayal was willing to donate the units on condition that the units be installed within a few days- and not get “stuck” in bureaucracy.

Five days later, we were invited to the base, and were thanked for our donation in front of the soldiers. A Border Patrol rabbi thanked Yashar LaChayal for helping these men and women who have the special responsibility of guarding Rachel’s Tomb, and preserving its safety for all Jews.
