We need your help to keep our brave soldiers warm each winter. While the Israeli army supplies equipment and uniforms for its troops, many day-to-day needs are not covered by their budget. Your generous assistance will provide our soldiers with everyday necessities that they would otherwise do without, including:
 

Warm Winter Wear/Supplies

•   Fleece jacket: $25 per soldier    
•   Wool cap, scarf, socks, and thermal undershirt: $30 per soldier    
•   Thermal underwear: $11 per soldier    
•   Fleece gloves: $5 per soldier    
•   Terrycloth bathrobe: $20 per soldier    
 

Please note suggested amounts below which will equip various Israel Defense Forces groups:
   

• Company (Pluga) - 100 soldiers For example, you can equip a Company of 100 soldiers with fleece gloves for $500    
• Battalion (Gdud) - 600 soldiers For example, you can equip a Battalion of 600 soldiers with wool caps etc for $16800    
• Brigade (Chativa) - up to 5000 soldiers For example, you can equip a Brigade for 5000 soldiers with fleece jackets for $125000

      Approximately 20% of Israel’s soldiers come from financially distressed homes.  Whenever we visit with units, one of the main themes brought to our attention is that of the difficult conditions that soldiers and their families face due to living at or below the poverty line. Sadly, these families cannot afford what most of us consider the most basic necessities like refrigerators, or radiators to heat their homes.

The caring and devotion of the commanding officers in bringing these situations to light has inspired us to act on their soldiers behalf by establishing this project. We work in cooperation with the officers in charge of social welfare, as well as the soldiers themselves, in an effort to assist where it is most urgently needed.

Yashar LaChayal provides donated furniture, and purchases household appliances that these families unfortunately cannot afford. We also deliver food packages prior to the holidays so that these families do not have to go without.

Program Examples:

• Electric radiators: $100 per unit      
• Washing machine: $500 per unit

      Yashar LaChayal is constantly on the go, visiting bases on the front lines to assess our soldiers’ needs.

Whether it be a base on the Northern border, or a unit next to Gaza, or another near Shechem, Yashar LaChayal is there, checking to see how we can help.

We go to all bases with needs, including those that are off the beaten path, and therefore often overlooked.

Commanding officers from units all over the country contact Yashar LaChayal directly for assistance as they know that we can provide for their urgent needs without delay. They are secure in the knowledge that they can count on us.

Program Examples:
     

•   When a call comes in to equip several units with emergency supplies (clothing and hygiene products) while awaiting orders to arrest terrorists, Yashar responds.  
• When a unit commander calls to request basic items like hot water urns or DVD players for their recreation rooms in the middle of nowhere, Yashar delivers.      
• When a base commander informs us that rooms at their base are almost unlivable due to extreme heat or cold, Yashar supplies air conditioning/heating units.

      The Lone Soldier Fund has been established to assist the thousands of lone soldiers who serve in the Israel Defense Forces. These soldiers immigrate from abroad and often receive little or no financial support from their families.

Our brave lone soldiers turn to Yashar LaChayal for numerous types of support, both material and emotional. We also search out these soldiers by speaking with their commanders to find out how we can assist them.

Yashar LaChayal also helps these soldiers through networking, and helping them navigate through the system.

      The Injured Soldier Fund was established during the Second War in Lebanon. Yashar LaChayal cares for injured soldiers with visits and care packages that are designed specifically for their needs. 

Yashar LaChayal is there, with ongoing visits throughout their hospitalization in which we provide support and encouragement to both the injured soldiers and their families.

      Program Examples:
     

 
• Care Packages: $25 x 50 packages = $1250      
• Personal DVD players: $150 x 25 players= $3750        
• Laptop computers: $2000 x 10 laptops = $20000

This Program is ideal for your synagogue, community center, or other organization interested in assisting our soldiers.
     

By adopting a base, you can:

 
• Provide the financial support to supply much needed clothing and supplies to a specific base      
• Show the soldiers that they have friends all over the world who care about them and want to share in their well being      
• Develop an ongoing relationship in which your visits and two-way communication are encouraged

  Program Example: Base of 130 Soldiers - These are not extraneous items. They are all desperately needed, and not budgeted by the IDF.
   

 
• Fleece jackets: $25 x 130 jackets = $3250        
• Wool cap, scarf, socks, and thermal undershirt: $30 x 130 sets = $3900      
• Thermal underwear: $11 x 130 thermals = $1430

• Purchase of Air Conditioning/Heating units: $900 x 50 = $45000     
• Purchase of a Fully Equipped Exercise Room Trailer:  $25000 per unit   
• Purchase of Exercise Equipment:  $10000 - urgently needed by our Border Patrol base in Hebron 
• Purchase of Commercial Dairy Cooking Ovens: $3000 per unit          Note that most bases are only equipped with a Meat Oven, therefore kosher dietary restrictions prohibit the cooking of dairy meals unless an additional oven is supplied.
